Los Angeles: Martin Short Daughter Death: Canadian actor Martin Short is mourning the heartbreaking loss of his daughter, Katherine Hartley Short, who has died at the age of 42. In a statement shared through his representative, the family confirmed the tragic news and requested privacy during this difficult time.

“It is with profound grief that we confirm the passing of Katherine Hartley Short. The Short family is devastated by this loss and asks for privacy at this time,” the statement said.

Katherine was the eldest of three children adopted by Martin Short and his late wife, actress and singer Nancy Dolman. According to U.S. media reports, she worked as a dedicated social worker and was deeply committed to helping others.

Family Remembers Her “Light and Joy”

Martin Short shared that his daughter “will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world.” Friends and colleagues have described her as compassionate and devoted to her community.

Law enforcement sources speaking to the Los Angeles Times and TMZ indicated that her death was being investigated as an apparent suicide. Officials have not released further public details.

Shows Postponed Amid Family Tragedy

Following the news, Short postponed several scheduled appearances with longtime comedy partner Steve Martin. The Miller High Life Theatre in Milwaukee announced that the February 27 performance had been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances. A show in Minneapolis scheduled for February 28 was also delayed.

Short, widely known for his roles in The Three Amigos, Father of the Bride, and Innerspace, is currently nominated for Best Male Actor in a Comedy Series for his performance in Only Murders in the Building.

Nancy Dolman, Katherine’s mother, passed away in 2010 after battling ovarian cancer.
