With the result, Darnold also matched a rare NFL milestone, tying a record previously held only by Tom Brady for the most wins in a debut season with a new team.
Efficient Football When It Mattered Most
Darnold focused on protecting the ball and managing the game rather than chasing big plays. He completed 20 of 26 passes for 198 yards without throwing a touchdown or an interception, while adding nine rushing yards on six carries.

Under head coach Mike Macdonald, Darnold found a system built around efficiency and smart decision-making. Over 17 games, he finished among the league’s top quarterbacks in multiple passing categories.
